Reiki is a non-invasive hands-on healing method that helps balance our bodies on spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels. It promotes healing without the side effects associated with pharmaceutical medicine.

Reiki does not diagnose or treat disease; it works holistically to foster balance and well-being. It is not meant to replace traditional medical care or treatment by a doctor.

HISTORY

Reiki energy was developed in Japan by Sensei Mikao Usui about a century ago while undertaking a Buddhist training that included mediation, fasting, chanting, and prayer. Usui used this spiritual knowledge and power to apply and attune others to what he called Reiki. Reiki consists of two Japanese words: “Rei” meaning “Higher Wisdom” and “Ki,” (like “Chi” in Chinese medicine), meaning “Universal Life Force Energy.”

A Reiki practitioner helps each person access inner healing wisdom and connect with the universal life force energy that joins all beings. Healing through the laying of hands, as is done with Reiki, has been practiced since the beginning of mankind.
